A selection of five ´quasi-original´ prints taken from the Great Hours of Anne of Brittany (1503-1508), a masterpiece of French painting. Illuminated manuscript dedicated to the two-time Queen of France, first with Charles VIII and then Louis XII (Louis of Orleans).
The miniatures were painted by the master Jean Bourdichon. His paintings constituted a clear advancement from Gothic style around the Renaissance.
The Great Hours of Anne of Brittany folder comes accompanied by a booklet, with detailed explanations of each print:
Queen Anne at prayer (f.3r);
The month of May from the calendar (f.8r);
The Announcement to the shepherds (f.58v);
A floral border with cherries (f.85r);
St Margaret and the dragon (f.250v)
The prints from this Book of Hours measure approximately 305x200mm. Framed in gold and on a black background, the prints are made on parchment-style paper which reproduces perfectly every aspect of the codex´s folios: colours, golds, textures, etc. The reproduction is so faithful that it is impossible to distinguish it from the original!
