Visit us and discover the world's most beautiful bibliographic jewels, such as the Tongerlo Apocalypse (Picture Book of the Life of St John and the Apocalypse), a manuscript that, although now kept in the British Library, can finally return to its place of origin, Belgium, thanks to the "quasi-original" edition published by Moleiro Editor. The provenance (previously unknown) of this work has been revealed by the authors of the commentary volume accompanying this edition. They were able to trace its origin to the Tongerlo Abbey in the province of Antwerp, on the basis of previously unidentified coats of arms and a newfound inscription.
This unusual codex, in which the Apocalypse is told in pictures with text inserted within the illustrations, resembles a luxury mediaeval comic book. Its strikingly fresh and lively images, abundantly enriched with gold, are expertly rendered in the edition that reproduces all its chromatic nuances, the splendour of burnished gold, the feel of parchment; in short, an edition that is "closer to a clone than a facsimile", as stated by the newspaper Le Monde.
We look forward to seeing you in Brussels!
