The bottom scene on f. 30r serves both to complement the main image on f. 28v (because it shows a typical, winter activity – a pastime in this instance) and as a border (because it shows another type of pastime played on ice: a child riding a wooden sledge propelled by two sticks being pushed across the ice by a playmate).
The medallion on the right, above which is a phylactery reading “capricornv[s]”, contains the sign of the zodiac in the form of a male ram shown walking from right to left.
